Of course the IWK was all over it in favor along with the Comical Herald cheerleading. Allegedly this is about safety. But don't be fooled. This is part of a none too subtle agenda to feminize and wussify hockey. Here's all you need to know.
There's no checking in women's hockey. And that's it. This ban applies to 17 year old midget players. It is preposterous that a 17 year old is considered "too young" or "too small" to receive a check or "might quit hockey" after going to the bench crying after getting hit once.
Therefore there will be no checking in hockey.
If this was about 11 year old peewee players then why not just make it on peewee? The reason it was extended to 17 year olds is to enable the next step which will be this.
"if 17 year olds are too vulnerable for checking then everyone is too vulnerable. thus we will ban checking in hockey just like the women did."

This is foolishness!
There are lots of girls who would love to body check as well so don't link feminize and wusify together.
This is about preventing lifelong injuries in kids. The majority of kids are not going to play in the NHL, they are going to play as adults in their local adult leagues, where *surprise* there is no checking, why? Has that league been feminized and wusified? No these adults realize life goes on beyond the hockey game. They have to get up in the morning, go to work and function in society. take care of themselves and their families. Kids have to do the same thing. Kids are receiving concussions and some multiple times and they have to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives and often have life long brain injuries that show up in their mid 30's to 40's. Higher rates of Alzheimer's, dementia, mental health issues caused by brain injuries (wrestler Chris Benoit), etc. I'm not talking about severe brain injuries that are severely noticeable from the beginning, these are subtle brain injuries you may not even know you have or you may just feel dazed when they happen. Why would you want any kid to have to suffer life long problems because of a fun game of hockey?
Here's an article about head injuries in football.
